Safe containing cash, tablets, payment machine stolen from Edmonton animal adoption centre

An Edmonton animal adoption centre has fallen victim to a brazen theft, leaving staff and volunteers shocked and saddened.

According to the Edmonton Police Service, a safe containing cash and tablets was stolen from the payment machine at the Edmonton Humane Society on December 28th.

The safe, which was bolted to the floor, was taken sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. that evening.

The Edmonton Humane Society is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on donations to provide care and shelter for animals in need. The stolen cash was intended to go towards the care of the animals in their facility.

In addition to the cash, the safe also contained important documents and medication for the animals.

The theft has left staff and volunteers feeling violated and concerned for the safety of the animals in their care.

“We are devastated by this theft,” said Miranda Jordan-Smith, CEO of the Edmonton Humane Society. “Not only has it impacted our ability to provide care for the animals, but it has also put their health at risk.”

The Edmonton Police Service is currently investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward.

In the meantime, the Edmonton Humane Society is taking steps to increase security measures and ensure the safety of their animals and staff.

“We are grateful for the support and generosity of our community, and we will continue to do everything in our power to provide the best care for the animals in our facility,” said Jordan-Smith.

The Edmonton Humane Society is urging anyone who may have information about the theft to contact the Edmonton Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
