A car was set ablaze in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood of Montreal on Monday night, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

According to Montreal police, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Laverdure Street near Henri-Bourassa Boulevard. Witnesses reported seeing flames coming from the car and called 911.

Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and were able to extinguish the fire, but not before the car sustained significant damage. No injuries were reported.

Police are currently investigating the incident and have not yet determined a motive or identified any suspects. They are asking anyone with information to come forward.

This is not the first time a car has been set on fire in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville area. In July, a similar incident occurred on nearby Saint-Hubert Street, where a car was also intentionally set ablaze.

Residents in the area are concerned about the recent string of car fires and are calling for increased police presence and surveillance in the neighborhood.

The investigation into Monday night’s incident is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
