Maskwacis RCMP are currently on the scene in Louis Bull First Nation, responding to a serious incident.
According to reports, officers were called to the community on the morning of December 20th, after receiving a report of a disturbance at a residence. Upon arrival, they discovered a male individual with serious injuries.
The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he remains in critical condition.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has been called in to assist with the investigation, and the area has been cordoned off as officers gather evidence and speak to witnesses.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the identity of the victim has not been released.
The community is understandably shaken by this incident, and the RCMP is urging anyone with information to come forward and speak to investigators.
Louis Bull First Nation Chief Irvin Bull has expressed his concern and condolences for the victim and his family, and has called for calm and cooperation as the investigation continues.
The RCMP is assuring the public that they are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to finding those responsible for this violent act.
