Local teacher launches East Coast music series

Real True News

A local teacher in North Bay, Ontario has launched a new music series that aims to showcase the talent of East Coast musicians. The series, titled “East Coast Sounds,” will feature a variety of artists from the Atlantic provinces, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

The brainchild of music teacher and musician, Sarah Thompson, the series was born out of her love for East Coast music and her desire to bring it to a wider audience. Thompson, who has been teaching music for over 15 years, has always been drawn to the unique sound and storytelling of East Coast musicians.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the rich musical traditions of the East Coast,” Thompson said. “Their music is deeply rooted in their culture and history, and I wanted to share that with others.”

The series will kick off with a performance by award-winning singer-songwriter, Rose Cousins, on October 15th at the Capitol Centre in North Bay. Cousins, who hails from Prince Edward Island, has been making waves in the music industry with her soulful and introspective songs.

Other artists scheduled to perform in the series include folk duo, Fortunate Ones, from Newfoundland and Labrador, and blues-rock band, The Motorleague, from New Brunswick. The series will also feature local East Coast musicians, giving them a platform to showcase their talents.

Thompson hopes that the series will not only entertain audiences but also educate them about the diverse and vibrant music scene in the East Coast. “I want people to discover new artists and appreciate the unique sound of East Coast music,” she said.

The series has already garnered attention and support from the local community, with tickets for the first show selling out quickly. Thompson plans to expand the series to other cities in Ontario and potentially across Canada in the future.
