A devastating house fire broke out in the community of Bearspaw on Saturday night, leaving the original house completely destroyed.
According to officials, the fire started around 9:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Bearspaw Village Crescent. Firefighters from the Rocky View County Fire Department were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the house fully engulfed in flames. The intensity of the fire made it difficult for firefighters to enter the house and they had to fight the blaze from the outside.
Thankfully, the residents of the house were able to escape safely and no injuries were reported. However, the house sustained significant damage and is considered a total loss.
Neighbouring houses were also at risk of catching fire, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials believe it may have started in the kitchen area. The estimated damage is currently unknown.
The residents of the house are receiving support from the community and the Red Cross. The family is currently displaced and will not be able to return to their home.
The Rocky View County Fire Department is reminding residents to always have working smoke detectors in their homes and to have an escape plan in case of a fire.
The community of Bearspaw is coming together to support the affected family during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with them as they begin to rebuild and recover from this tragic event.
