Leafs’ Woll rounding into form after injury

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is making a strong comeback after being sidelined with an injury earlier this season.

The 22-year-old netminder suffered a finger injury during a game against the Belleville Senators in February, forcing him to miss several games. However, Woll has been working hard to regain his form and has been making impressive strides in his recovery.

Woll’s determination and hard work have paid off, as he recently made his return to the ice with the Toronto Marlies, the Maple Leafs’ American Hockey League affiliate. In his first game back, Woll made 27 saves and helped the Marlies secure a 4-3 win over the Manitoba Moose.

The young goaltender’s performance has caught the attention of Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe, who praised Woll’s resilience and ability to bounce back from his injury.

“He’s been through a lot this year, with the injury and everything else,” Keefe said. “But he’s a very determined young man and he’s worked extremely hard to get back to where he is now.”

Woll’s return to form is a welcome sight for the Maple Leafs, who have been dealing with injuries to their goaltending tandem of Frederik Andersen and Jack Campbell. With Woll’s strong performance, he has solidified his spot as the third-string goaltender for the team and has shown that he is ready to step up if needed.

Woll’s journey to the NHL has been a long one, as he was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He spent three seasons playing for Boston College before turning pro and joining the Marlies last year.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Woll remains focused on his goal of playing in the NHL and is determined to continue improving his game.

“I’m just trying to get better every day and be ready for whatever opportunity comes my way,” Woll said.

With his strong work ethic and determination, Woll is proving to be a valuable asset for the Maple Leafs organization. As he continues to round into form after his injury, he is showing that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level of hockey.
