Prince Albert police identify human remains

Prince Albert Police have officially identified the human remains found in a rural area near the city.

According to a press release from the Prince Albert Police Service, the remains have been identified as those of 25-year-old John Doe, who was reported missing in October 2020.

The remains were discovered by a member of the public on December 28, 2020, in a wooded area near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 55.

The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crime Unit, along with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section, worked together to identify the remains.

The cause of death has not been released at this time, but police say it is being treated as suspicious.

The family of John Doe has been notified of the identification and are receiving support from victim services.
