Vernon Adams Jr. was 'crushed' by decision to keep Nathan Rourke as B.C. Lions starting QB

Vernon Adams Jr. was left feeling crushed after the decision was made to keep Nathan Rourke as the starting quarterback for the B.C. Lions.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Lions head coach Rick Campbell, who stated that Rourke had earned the starting position after his impressive performance in training camp.

Adams, who was acquired by the Lions in a trade with the Montreal Alouettes in January, had been competing with Rourke for the starting role. Despite his experience and success in the CFL, Adams was ultimately not chosen for the position.

In a statement released by the team, Adams expressed his disappointment with the decision, stating that he had put in a lot of hard work and was confident in his abilities to lead the team.

“I’m obviously disappointed with the decision, but I respect coach Campbell’s choice and will continue to support the team in any way I can,” Adams said.

Adams also acknowledged Rourke’s talent and wished him the best in his new role as starting quarterback.

“I have no doubt that Nathan will do a great job and I will be there to support him and the team,” Adams said.

Despite his disappointment, Adams remains committed to the Lions and is determined to continue working hard and improving his skills.

“I will use this as motivation to push myself even harder and be ready to step up when my name is called,” Adams said.

The B.C. Lions will kick off their season on August 7 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, with Rourke leading the team as starting quarterback.
