Toronto residents can expect some disruptions to their weekend plans as road closures and TTC service changes are set to impact traffic in the city.
According to the City of Toronto, there will be several road closures in effect from Friday, January 14 at 11 p.m. until Monday, January 17 at 5 a.m. These closures are due to construction and maintenance work on various highways and major roads.
The Don Valley Parkway will be closed in both directions between Highway 401 and the Gardiner Expressway. The Gardiner Expressway will also be closed in both directions between the Don Valley Parkway and Highway 427. Additionally, the Allen Road will be closed in both directions between Eglinton Avenue West and Lawrence Avenue West.
These closures are expected to cause significant delays for drivers, and commuters are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for extra travel time.
In addition to the road closures, the TTC will also be implementing service changes on several routes. The 501 Queen streetcar will be diverting between Roncesvalles Avenue and Shaw Street due to track work. The 504 King streetcar will also be diverting between Spadina Avenue and Church Street due to construction.
Furthermore, the 505 Dundas streetcar will be diverting between Bay Street and Church Street due to watermain work. The 506 Carlton streetcar will also be diverting between Bathurst Street and Church Street due to track work.
These service changes are expected to cause delays and disruptions for TTC riders, and the transit agency is advising passengers to plan ahead and consider alternate routes.
The City of Toronto and the TTC are reminding residents to exercise caution and patience while navigating through the affected areas. They are also urging drivers to obey all traffic signs and signals, and to be mindful of the safety of construction workers and TTC staff.
