GANANOQUE – The Gananoque Legion welcomed the new year with a festive celebration on New Year’s Eve.

The event, which was open to the public, was held at the Legion’s hall on King Street East. Attendees were treated to a night of live music, dancing, and delicious food.

The festivities began at 8 p.m. with a cocktail hour, where guests mingled and enjoyed a variety of appetizers. The main event kicked off at 9 p.m. with a performance by local band, The River Rats.

The band played a mix of classic rock and country music, keeping the crowd entertained and on their feet. Attendees were also treated to a special performance by the Gananoque Pipes and Drums, who played traditional Scottish tunes.

As the clock struck midnight, the Legion rang in the new year with a champagne toast and a balloon drop. The celebration continued into the early hours of the morning, with guests dancing and enjoying the company of friends and family.

The event was a success, with over 200 people in attendance. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the Legion’s programs and services for veterans and their families.

Legion President, John Smith, expressed his gratitude to the community for their support. “We are thrilled to have such a great turnout for our New Year’s Eve celebration. It’s a wonderful way to start off the new year and we are grateful for the support of our community,” he said.

The Gananoque Legion has been a staple in the community for over 90 years, providing support and resources for veterans and their families. The New Year’s Eve celebration is just one of the many events the Legion hosts throughout the year to raise funds and bring the community together.
