A man is fighting for his life after a fiery crash near midtown Toronto, according to paramedics.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. Emergency services were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. after reports of a collision between a car and a transport truck.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the car engulfed in flames and the driver trapped inside. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and extricate the man from the vehicle.
The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was rushed to a trauma centre with critical injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but witnesses say the car was travelling at a high speed before colliding with the truck.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated and cleared the scene. It has since reopened to traffic.
