The Saskatoon Blades have made a significant trade, acquiring forward Brandon Lisowsky from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2025 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft.
Lisowsky, a 17-year-old from Saskatoon, has played 22 games with the Raiders this season, recording two goals and two assists. He was originally drafted by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Blades general manager Colin Priestner expressed his excitement about the trade, stating that Lisowsky is a skilled player who will bring depth and versatility to the team’s forward group.
“We are thrilled to add Brandon to our organization. He is a local player with a lot of potential and we believe he will fit in well with our team,” said Priestner.
Lisowsky is also looking forward to joining the Blades and playing in his hometown.
“I am very excited to join the Blades and play in front of my family and friends. I am looking forward to contributing to the team’s success,” said Lisowsky.
The Blades currently sit in second place in the East Division with a record of 14-7-2-1. They will face the Raiders on Friday in Prince Albert, where Lisowsky will have the opportunity to face his former team.
The trade deadline for the WHL is on January 10, and the Blades are expected to make more moves as they continue to build their roster for a deep playoff run.
This trade marks the second time this season that the Blades have acquired a player from the Raiders, as they also traded for forward Ozzy Wiesblatt in October.
Fans can expect to see Lisowsky in action with the Blades in the near future as they continue their pursuit of the WHL championship.
