A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the investigation of a man found dead on the side of a road in the Niagara region. Police are still searching for one more suspect who remains at large.
According to authorities, the victim, 33-year-old John Doe, was discovered on the side of a rural road in Niagara-on-the-Lake on December 28th. He had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After an extensive investigation, police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Niagara Falls and charged him with first-degree murder. He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 15th.
A second suspect, 25-year-old Jane Smith, was also arrested and charged with first-degree murder. She appeared in court on January 5th and was remanded into custody.
However, police are still searching for a third suspect, 29-year-old Jack Johnson, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. He is described as 6’2″ tall, with a medium build and short brown hair. The public is advised not to approach him and to call 911 immediately if he is spotted.
The investigation is ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. They are also asking for any dashcam or surveillance footage from the area on the night of the incident.
The victim’s family has been notified of the arrests and are asking for privacy during this difficult time.
