Edmonton Elks lock up star linebacker Nyles Morgan

Edmonton Elks linebacker Nyles Morgan has been making waves in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with his impressive performance on the field.

The 24-year-old athlete, who hails from Crete, Illinois, has been a standout player for the Elks since joining the team in 2019. With his speed, agility, and strong tackling skills, Morgan has become a key player in the Elks’ defense.

Morgan’s journey to the CFL began in high school, where he excelled in both football and track and field. He went on to play college football at the University of Notre Dame, where he was a starting linebacker for three years and was named team captain in his senior year.

After going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Morgan signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent. However, he was released before the start of the regular season and decided to pursue a career in the CFL.

In his first season with the Elks, Morgan quickly made a name for himself, recording 55 tackles, one sack, and one interception. He continued to impress in the 2021 season, leading the team in tackles with 41 and earning a spot on the CFL All-Star team.

Morgan’s hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed by his coaches and teammates. Elks head coach Jaime Elizondo praised Morgan for his leadership and work ethic, saying, “He’s a true pro. He’s a guy that comes to work every day and sets the tone for our defense.”

Teammate and fellow linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox also spoke highly of Morgan, saying, “He’s a great player, a great leader, and a great person. He’s always willing to help and give advice to the younger guys on the team.”

Off the field, Morgan is known for his involvement in the community. He has participated in various charity events and has been a mentor to young athletes in Edmonton.

With his impressive performance on the field and his positive impact off the field, Nyles Morgan has become a valuable asset to the Edmonton Elks and a role model for aspiring football players. As he continues to make his mark in the CFL, it is clear that his future in the league is bright.
