A man has been charged with the stabbing death of a nightclub promoter on Granville Street in 2018.
According to Vancouver police, 33-year-old Jaspreet Singh Sohi has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 30-year-old Kalwinder Thind.
Thind, a well-known nightclub promoter, was found with stab wounds outside a nightclub on Granville Street in the early hours of January 27, 2018. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
After an extensive investigation, police identified Sohi as a suspect and arrested him on Wednesday. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Sgt. Steve Addison of the Vancouver Police Department stated that the arrest was a result of “tireless work” by investigators and thanked the public for their assistance in the case.
The motive for the stabbing is still unclear, but police believe it was a targeted attack and that the victim and suspect were known to each other.
