A man who was stranded on a cliff near Hope, British Columbia, has been rescued after being missing for several days.
According to the RCMP, the 35-year-old man was reported missing on Monday, July 12, after he failed to return from a hike in the area. A search and rescue operation was launched, but due to the rugged terrain and dangerous conditions, it was difficult to locate the man.
However, on Wednesday, July 14, a wildfire broke out in the area, adding to the challenges of the search. The fire, which has been named the “Hope Creek Fire,” quickly spread and forced the evacuation of nearby residents.
Despite the dangerous conditions, a team of search and rescue volunteers, along with the RCMP and BC Wildfire Service, continued their efforts to locate the missing man. After several hours of searching, they were able to locate him on a cliff, where he had become stranded.
The man, who has not been identified, was found to be in good health and was safely rescued from the cliff. He was then transported to a nearby hospital for a medical assessment.
