Chatham-Kent, ON – The real estate market in Chatham-Kent continues to thrive, with plenty of options for home buyers and healthy sales numbers.

According to the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors, there were 202 residential units sold in the region in September, a slight decrease from the 217 units sold in August. However, this is still a significant increase from the 160 units sold in September of last year.

The average price for a home in Chatham-Kent also saw a slight decrease, from $305,000 in August to $299,000 in September. This is still a 20% increase from the average price of $249,000 in September of 2019.

President of the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors, Steve Carroll, attributes the steady sales and prices to the strong demand for homes in the area. He notes that Chatham-Kent offers a variety of options for home buyers, from affordable starter homes to larger, more luxurious properties.

Carroll also points out that the COVID-19 pandemic has not had a significant impact on the real estate market in Chatham-Kent. In fact, he believes that the pandemic has actually increased the demand for homes in the region, as more people are looking to move away from larger cities and into more rural areas.

The Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors also reports that the number of active residential listings in the region has decreased by 30% compared to last year. This means that there is less inventory on the market, which could potentially drive up prices in the future.
