Lethbridge Polytechnic is expanding its educational offerings with the addition of a Primary Care Paramedic program. This program will provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become certified paramedics, filling a crucial need in the healthcare industry.
The program, which will be offered starting in September 2021, will be a two-year diploma program. It will include both classroom instruction and hands-on training, giving students a well-rounded education in the field of paramedicine.
According to Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Dean of the Centre for Health Sciences, Dr. Paula Burns, the addition of the Primary Care Paramedic program is a response to the growing demand for qualified paramedics in the province. “There is a significant need for trained paramedics in Alberta, and we are proud to be able to offer this program to help meet that need,” she stated.
The program will cover a wide range of topics, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, emergency medical procedures, and patient assessment. Students will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through clinical placements and ride-alongs with local ambulance services.
In addition to the Primary Care Paramedic program, Lethbridge Polytechnic also offers a variety of other healthcare programs, including Nursing, Practical Nursing, and Health Care Aide. These programs provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the healthcare field and make a positive impact on their communities.
Lethbridge Polytechnic is committed to providing students with high-quality education and preparing them for successful careers in the healthcare industry. With the addition of the Primary Care Paramedic program, the institution is further solidifying its position as a leader in healthcare education in Alberta.
