A group of teenage swimmers from Dorval, Quebec have been recognized for their heroic actions in saving a British man’s life while on vacation in Barbados.
The incident occurred on February 22nd, when the group of friends, aged 15 to 17, were swimming at a beach in Barbados. They noticed a man struggling in the water and immediately sprang into action.
Without hesitation, the teens swam towards the man and pulled him to safety. They then performed CPR until emergency services arrived.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital and has since made a full recovery. He expressed his gratitude to the young swimmers, calling them “true heroes.”
The teens were recently honored by the Dorval Aquatic Club for their bravery and quick thinking. They were presented with certificates of recognition and praised for their selfless act.
The Mayor of Dorval, Edgar Rouleau, also commended the teens for their bravery and presented them with a special plaque on behalf of the city.
The teens, who have been friends since childhood, were humbled by the recognition and expressed that they were simply doing what anyone would do in that situation.
Their coach, Jean-Francois Gagnon, described the group as “exceptional young individuals” and expressed his pride in their actions.
