Kempe, Moore get Kings closer to playoff spot with 6-3 victory over Canucks

The Los Angeles Kings took a step closer to securing a playoff spot with a 6-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.

The Kings were led by forward Adrian Kempe and defenseman Kurtis MacDermid, who each scored two goals in the game. Kempe’s first goal came just 1:32 into the first period, giving the Kings an early lead. MacDermid’s first goal came in the second period, extending the Kings’ lead to 3-1.

The Canucks fought back in the third period, scoring two goals to tie the game at 3-3. However, the Kings responded with three unanswered goals, including an empty-netter from Kempe in the final minute of the game.

Kempe’s two goals and one assist earned him the first star of the game, while MacDermid’s two goals and one assist earned him the second star. Kings’ captain Anze Kopitar also had a strong performance, recording three assists in the game.

The victory brings the Kings’ record to 14-8-6, putting them in fourth place in the West Division. They are now just two points behind the third-place St. Louis Blues and four points behind the second-place Colorado Avalanche.

The Canucks, on the other hand, continue to struggle with a record of 12-16-2, placing them in sixth place in the West Division.

The Kings will look to continue their winning streak as they face the Canucks again on Friday night. With just 10 games left in the regular season, every point is crucial for the Kings as they aim to secure a playoff spot.
