Edmonton man charged in March Whyte Avenue hit-and-run

An Edmonton man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Whyte Avenue in March.

According to police, the incident took place on March 20th at around 2:30 a.m. A 27-year-old man was crossing the street at the intersection of Whyte Avenue and 105 Street when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, including a broken leg and head trauma. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

After an investigation by the Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigation Unit, 26-year-old Michael James Farkas has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harm.

Farkas was arrested on April 8th and is currently in police custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 15th.
