Man taken to hospital after car crashes into home in Scarborough

A man has been hospitalized after a car crashed into a home in Scarborough on Monday evening.

According to Toronto police, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on the corner of Lawrence Avenue East and Orton Park Road.

The vehicle, a black sedan, reportedly lost control and collided with the front porch of a residential home. The impact caused significant damage to the porch and the front of the house.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the male driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The homeowners were inside the house at the time of the crash but were not harmed. They were able to safely evacuate the premises.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash and have not yet released any information on the driver’s identity or potential charges.

The intersection of Lawrence Avenue East and Orton Park Road was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and the damaged vehicle was removed from the scene.

Residents in the area expressed shock and concern over the incident, with some stating that speeding is a common issue on Lawrence Avenue East.
