The Forks offering partial parking ticket forgiveness in exchange for river trail help

The Forks, a popular tourist destination in Winnipeg, is offering a unique opportunity for individuals to have their parking tickets partially forgiven in exchange for helping maintain the Red River Mutual Trail.

According to a recent announcement, The Forks is looking for volunteers to assist with shoveling and clearing snow from the 10-kilometer skating trail that runs along the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. In return, volunteers will receive a credit of $3 per hour towards their parking tickets, up to a maximum of $30.

This initiative, known as the “River Trail Help Program,” aims to not only alleviate the burden of parking tickets for individuals, but also to encourage community involvement and support for the maintenance of the popular winter attraction.

The Forks CEO, Paul Jordan, stated that the program is a win-win situation for both the volunteers and the organization. “We understand that parking tickets can be a financial strain for some individuals, and we also recognize the importance of community support in keeping the River Trail in top condition,” he said.

The program has received positive feedback from the community, with many individuals expressing their interest in participating. The Forks has also received support from the City of Winnipeg, who sees this as a creative solution to address parking ticket concerns.

In order to participate in the River Trail Help Program, volunteers must register online and attend a mandatory training session. The program will run from January 15th to February 28th, with shifts available on weekdays and weekends.

The Forks is known for its innovative and community-focused initiatives, and the River Trail Help Program is just another example of their commitment to making a positive impact. So, if you have some parking tickets to clear and want to contribute to the maintenance of a beloved winter attraction, consider signing up for the program and be a part of this unique opportunity.
