Mounties were called to the scene after reports of shots being fired in Maple Ridge, British Columbia on Tuesday evening.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 11700 block of 224 Street. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, officers found evidence of shots being fired, including bullet casings and damage to nearby buildings. No injuries were reported.
The area was immediately cordoned off and an investigation was launched. The Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) was also called in to assist with gathering evidence.
At this time, no suspects have been identified and the motive for the shooting is still unknown. However, the RCMP believes this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the public.
Residents in the area were advised to stay indoors and avoid the area while the investigation was ongoing. The police also asked anyone with information or video footage of the incident to come forward.
This is not the first time Maple Ridge has experienced gun violence. In January, a man was shot and killed in a targeted attack in the same area. The RCMP has not confirmed if the two incidents are related.
