Battalion can’t hold third period lead and fall in overtime to Steelheads

The North Bay Battalion faced a tough loss against the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday night, unable to hold onto their third period lead and ultimately falling in overtime.

The game started off strong for the Battalion, with Brad Chenier scoring the first goal of the night just over five minutes into the first period. The team continued to dominate, with Brandon Coe adding another goal in the second period to give them a 2-0 lead.

However, the Steelheads were not ready to give up just yet. They fought back in the third period, scoring two goals to tie up the game and force it into overtime.

In the end, it was the Steelheads who came out on top, with Cole Schwindt scoring the game-winning goal just over a minute into overtime.

Despite the loss, the Battalion put up a strong fight and showed determination throughout the game. Head coach Stan Butler praised the team’s effort, stating, “I thought we played a really good game. We had a lot of chances and we played hard.”

The Battalion will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday when they face off against the Sudbury Wolves. With this loss behind them, the team will be looking to come out strong and secure a win.
