6 suspects arrested, drugs and cash seized after months-long trafficking investigation: RCMP

After a months-long investigation, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have arrested six suspects and seized a significant amount of drugs and cash in British Columbia.

According to the RCMP, the investigation began in January 2021 and focused on a drug trafficking operation in the Lower Mainland area. The suspects were allegedly involved in the distribution of various drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.

On April 20, 2021, the RCMP executed search warrants at multiple locations in Surrey and Langley, resulting in the arrest of six individuals. During the searches, officers seized over $200,000 in cash, along with a significant amount of drugs, including over 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 1 kilogram of fentanyl, and 2 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The RCMP also seized multiple firearms, including a loaded handgun, a shotgun, and a rifle, as well as various drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The six suspects, who have not been named by the RCMP, are facing charges of drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and firearms-related offences. They are currently in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on May 10, 2021.

The RCMP has emphasized that this investigation and subsequent arrests are a significant blow to the drug trafficking network in the Lower Mainland. They also stated that the seizure of firearms is a crucial step in ensuring the safety of the community.
