A snowfall warning has been issued for several mountain passes in the southern interior of British Columbia, causing potential travel disruptions for drivers.
According to Environment Canada, the warning is in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass.
The weather agency predicts that these areas could see up to 20 centimeters of snowfall by Friday morning, with the heaviest snowfall expected on Thursday evening.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution and adjust their travel plans accordingly. Snowfall can greatly impact visibility and road conditions, making it difficult to navigate through mountain passes.
This warning comes as a result of a Pacific frontal system moving through the province, bringing heavy snowfall to higher elevations. Environment Canada also warns that the snowfall could spread to other areas in the southern interior, including the Kootenay Pass and Paulson Summit.
In addition to the snowfall warning, a winter storm warning has been issued for the Fraser Canyon, with up to 30 centimeters of snow expected by Friday morning.
The combination of heavy snowfall and strong winds could create hazardous driving conditions, and drivers are advised to check road conditions before embarking on their journey.
