A recent poll conducted by Research Co. has revealed that a majority of British Columbia residents believe that Jewish Canadians are being unfairly targeted in light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.
The survey, which was conducted online from May 20 to May 23, asked 800 adults in British Columbia about their views on the current situation in the Middle East. The results showed that 62% of respondents believe that Jewish Canadians are being unfairly targeted due to the conflict, while only 13% believe that they are not.
The poll also found that 60% of British Columbians believe that the media coverage of the conflict has been biased against Israel, with only 14% believing that it has been biased in favor of Israel. Additionally, 57% of respondents believe that the Canadian government should take a more balanced approach in its response to the conflict.
When asked about their personal views on the conflict, 45% of British Columbians said they sympathize with Israel, while 17% sympathize with the Palestinians. However, a significant portion (38%) said they sympathize with both sides equally.
The poll also revealed that 60% of respondents believe that the conflict will have a negative impact on the Jewish community in Canada, while 16% believe it will have a positive impact. Furthermore, 55% of British Columbians believe that the conflict will have a negative impact on the Muslim community in Canada, while 17% believe it will have a positive impact.
The results of this poll highlight the concerns and opinions of British Columbians regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its impact on Canadian communities.
