Police in Burlington are urgently searching for the parents of a young toddler who was found wandering alone on Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, the child, believed to be around two years old, was discovered by a concerned citizen in the area of Guelph Line and Upper Middle Road at around 9:30 a.m.

The toddler, who was wearing a blue and white striped shirt and a diaper, was unable to provide any information about their identity or where they came from.

Police immediately launched a search for the child’s parents or guardians, going door-to-door in the surrounding neighborhood and checking surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses.

They also issued a public appeal for information, asking anyone who may have seen the child or knows their family to come forward.

In the meantime, the toddler has been taken into the care of the Children’s Aid Society while police continue their investigation.

Authorities are also reminding parents and caregivers to always keep a close eye on young children, especially in public places, and to ensure that they have proper identification on them at all times.

Anyone with information about the child’s identity or family is urged to contact Halton Regional Police at 905-825-4777.
