A pedestrian was left with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Longueuil on Monday evening.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at the intersection of Saint-Charles Street and Saint-Jean Street around 7:30 p.m. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was crossing the street when they were hit by a car.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
The intersection was closed for several hours as investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision. It has since been reopened to traffic.
Police are reminding drivers to be cautious and aware of pedestrians, especially during the busy holiday season. They are also urging pedestrians to use designated crosswalks and to always look both ways before crossing the street.
