The Saskatchewan Roughriders faced a tough loss against the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday, as quarterback Trevor Harris made his return to the field after being sidelined for three weeks due to injury.
Despite a strong start from the Riders, the Alouettes were able to take control of the game in the second half, ultimately winning with a final score of 30-16.
Harris, who had been out with a neck injury, showed no signs of rust as he completed 29 of 41 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 33 yards, proving to be a formidable threat on the field.
The Riders, on the other hand, struggled to find their footing on offense, with quarterback Cody Fajardo completing only 18 of 33 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown. The team also struggled with penalties, racking up 12 for 120 yards.
Despite the loss, the Riders’ defense put up a strong fight, with linebacker Deon Lacey recording 10 tackles and defensive back Ed Gainey intercepting a pass from Harris in the first quarter.
However, the Alouettes’ offense proved to be too much for the Riders to handle, with running back William Stanback rushing for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
The Riders will have a chance to bounce back next week as they take on the Ottawa Redblacks, while the Alouettes will face the Toronto Argonauts.
It was a disappointing loss for the Riders, but with Harris back in the game, they will surely be looking to come back stronger in their next match.
