Former Saskatchewan Roughriders coach Ken Miller passes away at 82

Former Saskatchewan Roughriders coach Ken Miller has passed away at the age of 79. The news of his death was confirmed by the Canadian Football League (CFL) on Monday.

Miller, who was born in Youngstown, Ohio, began his coaching career in the CFL in 2007 as the offensive coordinator for the Roughriders. He then took over as head coach in 2008 and led the team to two Grey Cup appearances, winning the championship in 2007.

During his time with the Roughriders, Miller was known for his calm and composed demeanor, earning him the nickname “Zen Master.” He was also highly respected by his players and colleagues for his football knowledge and leadership skills.

In addition to his coaching career, Miller also had a successful career in education. He earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin and worked as a teacher and principal before joining the CFL.

After his retirement from coaching in 2010, Miller continued to stay involved in the football world, serving as a consultant for the Roughriders and the CFL. He was also a mentor to many young coaches and players, sharing his wisdom and experience with them.

The news of Miller’s passing has been met with an outpouring of tributes and condolences from the football community. CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie described Miller as a “true gentleman” and a “great ambassador for our league.”
