Man charged with murder after another man found fatally shot in Brampton

A man has been charged with murder after another man was found fatally shot in Brampton, according to police.

The incident occurred on Monday evening, when officers responded to a call about a shooting in the area of McLaughlin Road and Queen Street. Upon arrival, they found a man with gunshot wounds and immediately began performing life-saving measures. However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Brampton resident, Jaskaran Singh. He was known to police and had a history of involvement in criminal activity.

After an investigation, 25-year-old Brampton resident, Gurpreet Singh, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Police have not released any information about a possible motive for the shooting or the relationship between the victim and the accused.

This incident marks the 11th homicide in Peel Region this year. The Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
