Over 100 backpacks were distributed to at-risk children in Calgary’s southeast community, providing much-needed support for families in need.

The initiative, organized by the Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Police Foundation, aimed to provide essential school supplies to children who may not have access to them otherwise. The backpacks were filled with items such as notebooks, pencils, and other school essentials, helping to alleviate the financial burden on families and ensuring that children have the tools they need to succeed in their education.

The event, which took place at the Calgary Police Service’s District 4 office, saw a great turnout from both volunteers and families in the community. The backpacks were distributed to children from various schools in the area, with each child receiving a backpack tailored to their grade level.

Sergeant Jason Walker, who helped organize the event, emphasized the importance of supporting at-risk children in the community. “We know that many families in this area may struggle to provide their children with the necessary school supplies. By providing these backpacks, we hope to alleviate some of that stress and help these children start the school year on the right foot,” he said.

The event also served as an opportunity for the Calgary Police Service to connect with the community and build positive relationships with families in the area. “We want to show these children that we are here to support them and that we care about their well-being,” said Sergeant Walker.

The backpack distribution was made possible through generous donations from various organizations and individuals in the community. The Calgary Police Foundation, which works to support youth programs and initiatives, was a key partner in this event.

This initiative is just one example of the Calgary Police Service’s commitment to serving and supporting the community. Through events like this, they hope to make a positive impact on the lives of at-risk children and their families.

As the new school year approaches, these backpacks will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of many children in Calgary’s southeast community. The Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Police Foundation are proud to have been able to provide this support and look forward to continuing to serve the community in the future.
