A person has been rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a fire broke out at a home in the Spence area of Winnipeg.
Emergency crews responded to the scene on the 500 block of Maryland Street around 3:30 a.m. on Monday.
According to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the fire was contained to the main floor of the home and was quickly extinguished.
One person was found inside the home and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the extent of the damage is unknown at this time.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is reminding residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms on every level of their home and to have a fire escape plan in place.
