Harbour Air, a popular airline in British Columbia, has announced the suspension of its service between Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, and Vancouver Island. The decision was made due to low demand for flights on these routes.
In a statement released by the airline, Harbour Air cited the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as the main reason for the decrease in demand. With travel restrictions and safety concerns still in place, many people have chosen to stay closer to home, resulting in a decline in air travel.
The suspension of service will affect flights between Vancouver and Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast, as well as flights between Vancouver and Nanaimo and Comox on Vancouver Island. These routes will be temporarily suspended starting on January 11, 2021.
Harbour Air has assured customers that they will be contacted directly if their flights are affected by the suspension. The airline is also offering full refunds or the option to rebook for a later date.
This is not the first time Harbour Air has had to make adjustments due to the pandemic. In March 2020, the airline temporarily suspended all flights before resuming service in June with enhanced safety measures in place.
Despite the challenges faced by the airline industry, Harbour Air remains committed to providing safe and reliable service to its customers. The airline will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed.
In the meantime, customers can still book flights between Vancouver and Victoria, as well as between Vancouver and Salt Spring Island. Harbour Air also plans to resume service between Vancouver and Whistler in the near future.
The suspension of service between Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, and Vancouver Island is a temporary measure, and Harbour Air hopes to resume these flights as soon as demand increases. The airline thanks its customers for their understanding and support during these challenging times.
