A woman is currently in serious condition after being struck by a car in Brampton on Monday evening.
According to Peel Regional Police, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Queen Street East and Bramalea Road.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle. She was immediately rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Police say alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. It has since reopened.
This is the second pedestrian collision in Brampton in less than a week. Last Thursday, a 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Bramalea Road.
Peel Regional Police are reminding drivers to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, especially during the holiday season when there is an increase in pedestrian traffic.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
