Winnipeg Police have officially identified the victim of a fatal crash on Portage Avenue as 27-year-old John Smith.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening, when Smith was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
Smith’s family has been notified of his passing and are requesting privacy during this difficult time.
