Chatham Maroons’ Lisi Takes Home OHL Award, While Wild Struggle in PJHL
The Chatham Maroons’ forward, Maddux Lisi, has been recognized for his outstanding performance on the ice by winning the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Player of the Week award. Meanwhile, the Wallaceburg Lakers continue to struggle in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL).
Lisi, a 19-year-old from Belle River, Ontario, was named the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending on November 10th. He recorded six points in just two games, including a hat trick and three assists in a 7-4 win against the Sarnia Legionnaires. This is Lisi’s first season with the Maroons, and he has already made a significant impact on the team’s success.
The Maroons’ head coach, Kyle Makaric, praised Lisi for his hard work and dedication, stating, “Maddux has been a key player for us this season. He has a great work ethic and is always looking to improve his game. We are proud to have him on our team and are thrilled to see him receive this well-deserved recognition.”
In addition to Lisi’s success, the Maroons have been performing well as a team, currently sitting in second place in the Western Conference with a record of 14-5-0-1. They have also been recognized as one of the top teams in the country, ranking 14th in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Top 20 weekly rankings.
On the other hand, the Wallaceburg Lakers have been struggling in the PJHL, currently sitting in last place in the Stobbs Division with a record of 1-17-0-1. The team has faced numerous challenges this season, including injuries and a lack of experience, but they continue to work hard and strive for improvement.
Lakers’ head coach, Ken Shine, remains optimistic about the team’s future, stating, “We have a young team, and we are facing some tough competition in our division. But our players are determined to improve and make a name for themselves in this league.”
Despite their current struggles, the Lakers have shown moments of promise, including a 4-3 win against the Petrolia Flyers on November 9th.
As the season continues, both the Maroons and the Lakers will look to build on their successes and overcome their challenges. The Maroons will face the LaSalle Vipers on November 15th, while the Lakers will take on the Dresden Kings on November 16th.
