A family is speaking out after their loved one was shot and robbed north of Prince Albert. The victim, a 32-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound on a rural property near the community of St. Louis on Sunday morning.
According to the family, the victim was visiting a friend when he was approached by two men who demanded money. When he refused, he was shot in the leg and robbed of his belongings.
The victim’s brother, who wishes to remain anonymous, says his brother is lucky to be alive. “He’s in a lot of pain, but he’s alive and that’s all that matters,” he said.
The family is urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring the perpetrators to justice. “We want these men off the streets so that no one else has to go through what my brother went through,” the brother said.
The victim’s family also wants to remind people to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, especially in rural areas. “We never thought something like this could happen to our family, but it did. We want everyone to be safe and vigilant,” the brother said.
The RCMP is currently investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers. The family is hopeful that justice will be served and that their loved one can recover from this traumatic experience.
As the investigation continues, the family is grateful for the support and well wishes they have received from the community. They are also thankful for the quick response of emergency services, which they believe saved their loved one’s life.
The victim’s brother ended by saying, “We are a strong family and we will get through this together. We just hope that no one else has to go through what we went through.”
