Roughriders advance to West Division final with 28-19 win over B.C. Lions

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have secured their spot in the West Division Final after a hard-fought 28-19 victory over the B.C. Lions.

The game, which took place on Saturday at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, saw the Roughriders take an early lead with a touchdown from running back William Powell in the first quarter. The Lions quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, but the Roughriders maintained their lead with a field goal from kicker Brett Lauther.

The second quarter saw both teams struggle to gain momentum, with the Roughriders adding another field goal and the Lions scoring a touchdown to tie the game at 13-13 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Roughriders came out strong with a touchdown from receiver Kyran Moore, followed by another field goal from Lauther. The Lions fought back with a touchdown of their own, but the Roughriders maintained their lead with a successful two-point conversion.

The fourth quarter saw the Roughriders extend their lead with a touchdown from receiver Shaq Evans, putting them up 28-19. The Lions made a valiant effort to catch up, but the Roughriders’ defense held strong, securing their victory and a spot in the West Division Final.

Quarterback Cody Fajardo led the Roughriders’ offense with 299 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Powell rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive side, linebacker Micah Teitz had a standout performance with eight tackles and a sack.

The Roughriders will now face off against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Division Final on December 5th. The Blue Bombers, who finished first in the West Division, will have home-field advantage for the game.

This win marks the Roughriders’ third consecutive appearance in the West Division Final, and they will be looking to secure their spot in the Grey Cup for the first time since 2013.
