The Chatham Maroons proved to be a formidable force on the ice as they rode their hot line to victory against the LaSalle Vipers in a recent game.
Led by the dynamic trio of forwards Maddux Rychel, Kyle Fisher, and Evan Wells, the Maroons dominated the Vipers with a final score of 5-2.
Rychel, who has been on a scoring streak, opened up the game with a goal in the first period, giving the Maroons an early lead. Fisher and Wells followed suit, each scoring a goal in the second period to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Vipers fought back in the third period, scoring two goals to narrow the gap. However, the Maroons’ hot line was not to be stopped as Rychel and Fisher each scored another goal, securing the win for their team.
Head coach Kyle Makaric praised the performance of the hot line, stating, “They have been playing with a lot of chemistry and it’s great to see them producing on the ice.”
The Maroons’ victory over the Vipers marks their third consecutive win, solidifying their position as a top team in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Western Conference.
With a record of 10-3-1, the Maroons are currently tied for second place in the conference, just one point behind the first place Leamington Flyers.
The team’s success can also be attributed to their strong defensive play, with goaltender Kevin Linker recording 33 saves in the game against the Vipers.
The Maroons will look to continue their winning streak as they face off against the St. Thomas Stars in their next game. With their hot line firing on all cylinders and a solid defense, the Maroons are poised to make a strong push for the top spot in the conference.
