A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning near the Kelowna Downtown Marina, as a man drowned in the waters.
According to reports from the Kelowna RCMP, the incident took place around 2:30 am when emergency services were called to the marina. Witnesses reported seeing a man struggling in the water before he disappeared beneath the surface.
Despite the efforts of bystanders and emergency responders, the man was unable to be saved. His body was later recovered by the RCMP dive team.
The identity of the man has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The RCMP is working with the BC Coroners Service to determine the cause of death.
At this time, it is unclear how the man ended up in the water or if any foul play was involved. The RCMP is asking anyone with information to come forward and assist with their investigation.
