Man drowned near Kelowna Downtown Marina early Saturday morning.

A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning near the Kelowna Downtown Marina, as a man drowned in the waters.

According to reports from the Kelowna RCMP, the incident took place around 2:30 am when emergency services were called to the marina. Witnesses reported seeing a man struggling in the water before he disappeared beneath the surface.

Despite the efforts of bystanders and emergency responders, the man was unable to be saved. His body was later recovered by the RCMP dive team.

The identity of the man has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The RCMP is working with the BC Coroners Service to determine the cause of death.
