Homicide Investigators Called in After Missing Teen Found Dead in Surrey
The community of Surrey, British Columbia is reeling after the tragic discovery of a missing teenager’s body. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found deceased on Monday afternoon in a wooded area near 146th Street and 80th Avenue.
According to the Surrey RCMP, the 17-year-old had been reported missing by their family on Sunday evening. The investigation quickly escalated to a homicide case, with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) being called in to lead the investigation.
IHIT spokesperson, Sgt. Frank Jang, stated that the victim’s death is being treated as suspicious and that they are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding it. He also urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
