Toronto police have announced the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with an arson incident outside a Jewish day school.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday evening outside the Bialik Hebrew Day School in the Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue West area. The suspect allegedly set fire to a garbage bin, causing damage to the school’s exterior.
After an investigation, police identified and arrested a 32-year-old man on Wednesday. He has been charged with arson and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
The incident has sparked concern and fear within the Jewish community, as it comes just days after a series of anti-Semitic incidents in the city. However, police have not yet confirmed if the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
