A tragic shooting in Langley, British Columbia has left one man dead and another injured, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
The incident occurred on the evening of March 1st, 2021, in the 23700 block of 72nd Avenue. IHIT was called to the scene shortly after 9:30 pm.
Upon arrival, officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
IHIT has identified the deceased as 33-year-old Tyler Pastuck of Langley. The injured man, who has not been named, is believed to be in his 20s.
At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown, and no suspects have been identified. IHIT is asking anyone with information to come forward and speak with investigators.
“We are in the early stages of this investigation and are working to determine what led to this tragic incident,” said Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT. “We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting to contact us.”
The area surrounding the scene has been cordoned off as investigators gather evidence and speak with witnesses. The BC Coroners Service is also involved in the investigation.
Langley Mayor Val van den Broek expressed her condolences to the victims’ families and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“This is a senseless act of violence that has no place in our community,” she said. “We are working closely with IHIT to support their investigation and bring those responsible to justice.”
