Downtown Kelowna is about to become the stage for an exciting and charitable event, inspired by the popular TV show “The Amazing Race”. The event, organized by the Kelowna Community Foundation, will take place on September 18th and will raise funds for local charities.
Participants will form teams of two and race through the streets of downtown Kelowna, completing challenges and solving clues along the way. The event aims to promote community engagement and showcase the beauty of the city while supporting a good cause.
According to the Kelowna Community Foundation, the event will be a fun and unique way to give back to the community. “We wanted to create an event that would not only raise funds for local charities, but also bring people together and showcase the vibrant downtown area,” said the foundation’s CEO, Talia Smith.
The event is open to people of all ages and fitness levels, with a variety of challenges that will test both physical and mental abilities. Participants will also have the opportunity to win prizes, including a grand prize for the winning team.
Local businesses have also shown their support for the event, with many sponsoring challenges and providing prizes. “We are thrilled to be a part of this event and support our community,” said John Smith, owner of a local restaurant.
Registration for the event is now open and teams are encouraged to sign up early as spots are limited. The registration fee is $100 per team, with all proceeds going towards local charities.
The Kelowna Community Foundation hopes to make this an annual event and continue to make a positive impact in the community. “We are excited to see the community come together for a fun and meaningful event, and we hope to make a difference in the lives of those in need,” said Smith.
So mark your calendars for September 18th and get ready to race for a good cause in downtown Kelowna. Let’s show the world the amazing community spirit of our city.
