A woman was sexually assaulted while walking on a trail in Milton, according to police.
The incident occurred on Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. The woman was walking on the trail near the intersection of Derry Road and Ontario Street when she was approached by a man.
The man allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and then fled the scene. The woman immediately contacted the police and reported the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a black baseball cap at the time of the assault.
Police are asking anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward. They are also urging residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
This is not the first incident of sexual assault on the Milton trail. In October 2020, a woman was also sexually assaulted while walking on the same trail. The suspect in that case was described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5’8″ tall with a slim build.
The Halton Regional Police Service is reminding the public to always be aware of their surroundings and to take precautions when walking alone, especially in secluded areas.
