A man has been charged by Toronto police after a young person was sexually assaulted and assaulted with a weapon.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday, February 1st, in the area of Jane Street and Finch Avenue West. The victim, who is under the age of 18, was approached by the suspect and allegedly sexually assaulted. The suspect also reportedly assaulted the victim with a weapon.
The victim was able to escape and immediately contacted the police. The suspect fled the scene but was later located and arrested by officers.
The accused, identified as 25-year-old Javon Martin, has been charged with sexual assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He appeared in court on Tuesday, February 2nd.
Police are urging anyone with information or who may have been a victim of a similar incident to come forward and contact investigators.
