Taco lovers, get ready to bid farewell to a beloved Gastown eatery this weekend. After eight years of serving up delicious Mexican-inspired fare, Tacofino Gastown will be closing its doors on August 18th. But before they say goodbye, the restaurant is inviting the community to join in on a proper send-off celebration on August 17th and 18th.
The popular restaurant, known for its vibrant atmosphere and mouth-watering tacos, has been a staple in the Gastown neighborhood since 2011. It quickly gained a loyal following and became a go-to spot for locals and tourists alike. However, with the lease coming to an end, the owners have made the difficult decision to close the doors and focus on their other locations.
But the team at Tacofino Gastown is determined to go out with a bang. The two-day celebration will feature live music, drink specials, and of course, plenty of tacos. Guests can also expect some surprises and special menu items as a tribute to the restaurant’s time in Gastown.
Co-owner Jason Sussman expressed his gratitude to the community for their support over the years, stating, “We are incredibly grateful for the love and support we have received from the Gastown community. It has been an amazing journey, and we are sad to say goodbye, but we are excited for what the future holds.”
The closure of Tacofino Gastown marks the end of an era for the neighborhood, but it also opens up opportunities for new and exciting ventures. As for the Tacofino team, they will continue to operate their other locations in Vancouver, Tofino, and Victoria, as well as their food trucks.
So, mark your calendars and head down to Tacofino Gastown this weekend to give them a proper send-off. Let’s show our appreciation for all the delicious meals and good times they have provided us over the years. And who knows, maybe we’ll see them back in Gastown in the future.
